Places of Interest
In addition to the natural history of the Suffolk Coast, there are plenty of places to visit.
Here are a few for you to consider.
Orford Castle and Framlingham Castle

Orford Castle and Framlingham Castle are only a short drive from the Mill. Both are run by English Heritage and an ideal place to take the kids to see a bit of history. Orford Castle is the smaller castle and an ideal place to combine with wonder around Orford itself. Framlingham Castle is the larger castle and occasionally runs events for the family.

Sutton Hoo, overlooking the River Deben, is the site of an anlo-saxon ship burial with one of the largest ancient treasure discoveries made in England. The site is run by The National Trust and has a visitors centre and things to do for the kids.

The old maltings at Snape have been restored and converted in to shops, restaurants and galleries. There are boat trips and walks along the River Alde.

The home of one of our most famous painters, Constable. Now run by The National Trust.

A beach, amusements and fishing trips can all be found on Southwold Pier. Southwold, home of the Adnam’s brewery amongst other things, is also a pretty town to wonder around.
